Crawford Notch is a steep, narrow gorge of the Saco River in the White Mountains in Hart's Location, New Hampshire. Crawford Notch State Parktakes up half of the town. The notch is at the upper or Northern end of this gorge, where the land descends North and South, and ascends East and West. It is bisected by the US highway Route 302 and the Saco River. The notch was named after Abel Crawford, an explorer, trail-builder and hosteler in the 19th century.
The Willey Range is included in the Crawford Notch area. There are three 4,000 footer mountains in the Crawford Notch area, all of which are part of the Willey Range: Mount Field, Miount Tom and Mount Willey.
